At the Brisbane Showgrounds on Friday the 17th of May, the Royal Queensland Awards were held to crown Australia’s best steak, lamb, cheese, ice cream and seafood.
Last month 19 judges including top chefs, food consultants, butchers and food journalists tested a record number of high-quality entries from around the country. The process included food scientists cooking each lamb rack to perfection before taste testing.
Tasmanian Quality Meats were announced Gold winners of the Branded Lamb 20kg or less category, with a class high score of 90. Topping all lamb classes, the Tasmanian Quality Meats Trade Lamb was then trophied as the Champion Branded Lamb of Show. “We’re extremely proud to bring this award back to Tasmania” TQM CEO Jake Oliver said. “To top the scores of all lamb entries is no small feat, the judges commented on the elevated standard each year, and we were up against the best of the best lamb from across Australia.” “Our farmers are producing world-class lambs; this win is a testament to their hard work and passion for what they do.” Among the other class product winners, the award-winning lamb rack product will be at the Ekka, the Royal Queensland Show in August this year.
