Biosecurity

Biosecurity - it's everyone's business!

Biosecurity is the protection of industries, the environment and public well-being, health, amenity and safety from the negative impacts of pests, diseases and weeds

Biosecurity Tasmania is responsible for leading the biosecurity effort in Tasmania in partnership with the community and industry.

Biosecurity Project

The Tasmanian Government invests $350,000 into increased biosecurity awareness and preparedness in agriculture, as a joint project with TasFarmers.

The joint biosecurity project between TasFarmers and the State Government is funded to run for three years and aims to support the continuation of enhanced on-farm biosecurity engagement within the industry and broader community on the awareness of good on-farm biosecurity practices.

The project will continue the collaboration between Biosecurity Tasmania and TasFarmers to provide and facilitate required resources and communication to ensure that agricultural businesses are biosecurity ready. This project has been funded for a continued three year period (2022/23-2024/25) and will focus on educating farmers, the supply chain and wider community about biosecurity.
