Biosecurity Project - Update
This project will allow for the continued collaboration between Biosecurity Tasmania and TasFarmers to provide and facilitate required resources and communication to ensure that their businesses are biosecurity ready. This project has been funded for a continued three year period (2022/23-2024/25) and will focus on educating farmers, the supply chain and wider community about biosecurity.
Through continuous and effective communication we aim to improve and encourage positive cultural change towards farm biosecurity and the obligations under the General Biosecurity Duty.
We are also helping to spread the message of the importance of biosecurity to the wider community and helping to ensure our agricultural industries are protected. Through continuous and effective communication, we aim to improve and encourage positive culture change towards farm biosecurity.
Livestock Health Monitoring Reports
The Livestock Health Monitoring program collects confidential/anonymous information on livestock diseases and conditions observed by rural service providers and abattoir data from the National Sheep Health Monitoring Project in Tasmania and produces a monthly report.
The report contains information on animal health, seasonal disease alerts, biosecurity and disease conditions observed in Tasmanian livestock each month.

General Biosecurity Duty
The General Biosecurity Duty (GBD) is the new legal obligation under the Biosecurity Act 2019 that came into effect on 31st March 2021.
The GBD reinforces that everyone has a role to play in protecting our unique environment and primary industries against biosecurity risks. Understanding and meeting your GBD responsibilities will help protect your business, our primary industries, our economy, the environment, and our way of life here in Tasmania.
Biosecurity Tasmania has developed a range of helpful resources to assist you to understand the GBD, to identify your GBD responsibilities and help keep Tasmania biosecurity safe. This includes stakeholder profiles for different people, industries and communities to help understand their role in biosecurity. This includes agricultural contractors, agricultural tourism operators, livestock producers, government employees, seasonal workers, small landholders, and utility service providers.

Weeds Booklet
