CalfWays Tasmanian Action Plan

Driving a better future for surplus calves in Tasmania

TasFarmers, in partnership with Dairy Australia, proudly presents the CalfWays Tasmanian Action Plan – the state’s first dedicated roadmap to improve the management of surplus dairy calves.

This plan builds on Tasmania’s strengths in dairy and beef production and responds to changing market expectations, evolving welfare standards, and the shared industry goal to end the routine euthanasia of viable calves by 2035.

Developed in consultation with more than 65 local stakeholders, this action plan sets out clear, practical steps across four key focus areas:

  • Stakeholder commitment
  • Capability building
  • Market connections
  • Fostering partnerships

By connecting farmers, processors, researchers, and government, the plan creates new value for Tasmanian producers and supports a more sustainable future for every calf born into our dairy industry.
