Chicken farmers are encouraged to stay vigilant as another outbreak of Avian Influenza has been detected in Victoria over the last week.
A farm near Euroa in northern Victoria has found the high pathogen H7 N8 strain to be present in their flock. A 5km exclusion zone has been placed around the chicken farm. This outbreak is on the back of several H7 outbreaks in Victoria late in 2024 around the Geelong/Bellarine peninsula area and had an impact on egg production.
So far Tasmania has been able to stay free of Avian Influenza and farmers are urged to keep good biosecurity practices at the forefront of their operations to help protect them from such animal diseases.
