In November 2019 an abattoir worker contracted Q fever, some of the symptoms include high fevers and chills, drenching sweats, muscle and joint pain and extreme fatigue. Q fever is generally transmitted to humans via infected animals by breathing in the bacteria, handling the tissues of infected animals or herding, shearing and transporting animals
The occupations most at risk are abattoir workers, stockyard workers, veterinary workers and livestock transporters just to name a few. If your workplace is one at risk of Q fever you must have risk measure in place for your workers and others who may be exposed to the disease.
