Come and meet a Biosecurity Tasmania detector dog and watch them train to find potential biosecurity threats at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) Agfest tent.
The Department’s display will showcase the diverse programs and services provided by NRE Tas to deliver a sustainable Tasmania.
Visitors to the tent are invited to explore the Land Information System Tasmania (LIST) Map, test their recycling sorting knowledge, learn about correctly constructed dams and discuss their next outdoor adventure with the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service team.
Event goers can also learn about staying safe on the farm with Safe Farming Tasmania, test their agricultural knowledge and discover current research at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture's display.
There is also an opportunity to locate hidden native orchids at the Natural Resource Management's display. NRE Tas Secretary Jason Jacobi said that NRE Tas is delighted to return to Agfest for the 41st year.
“We always look forward to highlighting the diversity of the Department at Agfest and showcasing the wide diversity of services that NRE Tas delivers across the State. This is the largest event attended by NRE Tas each year and provides an opportunity for us to connect with the community in every area of work that we do”.
The NRE Tas tent is located at site S70 on South Street at Quercus Park, Carrick from 1 to 3 May 2025. Agfest is hosted by the Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania and is regarded as one of Australia's premier agricultural events, celebrating and showcasing the best of Tasmania's agriculture industry.
