Ag Innovation Expo 2025: Focusing on Soil Health & Paddock Preparation

13 March 2025

Tasmania’s largest agricultural innovation and productivity group is today announcing the return of its popular Ag Innovation Expo, which will be held this year from Tuesday 15 April evening with a twilight VegNET demonstration and Expo field day on 16 April 2025.

The Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group (TAPG) event will bring together farmers, industry leaders, researchers, and AgTech innovators from across the country for a dynamic day of hands-on learning, networking, and practical equipment demonstrations.

TAPG Executive, Terry Brient said this year's theme of the expo will be ‘Soil Health and Paddock Preparation’. This is an area of real innovation in agriculture, and the challenge, he noted, was making sure it works at the farm level.

Mr Brient said, “This expo is about more than just showcasing technology—it’s about giving farmers the tools and insights they need to make real improvements on their farms.

“The highlight of the expo will be a live soil management demonstration by Professor Dick Godwin, an international leading expert in soil mechanics, traXic management and precision tillage who will be attending the expo from England.

“This session will provide farmers with a real insight into how to approach soil compaction and best practices for long-term soil health, one not to be missed.

“Our program overall is packed with cutting-edge technology and innovation, featuring the autonomous Farm Droid for planting and weeding, unmanned aerial vehicles for advanced horticultural management, and remote soil monitoring for real-time field analysis,” said Mr Brient.

In addition to innovation, the event will provide valuable opportunities for industry networking and knowledge sharing

“This event offers unmatched networking opportunities, and we're pleased to be opening with remarks from TAPG Chairperson Mark Kable, followed by Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett”.

“We know the Minister is passionate about agriculture, and this is a great opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders, exchange ideas, and see innovation in action,” Mr Brient said.
Mr Brient added, “For many, the real value of this event is the conversations that happen around the demonstrations and trade stalls.”

TasFarmers CEO Nathan Calman said the event is crucial for the sector, providing a valuable opportunity for like-minded producers to come together and explore the latest cutting-edge technology in agriculture.

“The benefit for farmers is they can see the latest technology in action and how it can be used on their properties to improve profitability and productivity.

“This expo puts it all in one place, so you can stay up to date with the rapid shift in technology and as farmers are quite isolated day to day, it brings everyone together in place.

The Ag Innovation Expo 2025 offers a practical, informative, and hands-on experience for those working in agriculture. Whether farmers are looking to explore new technologies, improve on-farm efficiency, or connect with industry peers, this event will provide valuable insights and opportunities.
