Telstra are upgrades mobile network at Mount Blackwood

05 April 2024

Telstra upgraded its mobile network on Mount Blackwood at Poatina, bringing better 4G services while making the site 5G ready for the community. This was great news for the community, although mobile services may have been impacted at various times during the period.

The works required minimum temporary outages or reductions in mobile coverage, mainly affecting customers in Blackwood Creek and Poatina, as well as some areas in Northern Midlands and Meander Valley.

These improvements temporarily impacted Telstra mobile coverage. Telstra mobile customers received text messages advising of the upcoming work.

Landline services, NBN internet services, and mobile coverage from other providers were not impacted. Any calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile when the site was off-air were automatically diverted to any working mobile network for connection to emergency services with no interruptions noted.

All went according to plan and the mobile upgrade was completed.
