Tasmanian Irrigation Seeks Feedback to Strengthen Funding Case for Greater South East Irrigation Scheme

31 October 2024

Tasmanian Irrigation is actively working to secure Federal funding for the Greater South East Irrigation Scheme (GSEIS), a crucial project poised to provide long-term water security for farming businesses across Tasmania’s southeast.

As part of these efforts, Tasmanian Irrigation has launched a survey targeted at local irrigators. The survey seeks updated insights into how the proposed scheme could benefit agricultural enterprises, contributing valuable information to bolster the case for Federal support.

Farmers and irrigators in the region are encouraged to participate in the survey, which takes approximately five minutes to complete. This feedback will help illustrate the essential role GSEIS would play in sustaining and enhancing agricultural productivity.

The aggregated data will strengthen Tasmanian Irrigation's advocacy for Federal funding, demonstrating the project’s potential to support regional growth and resilience in the face of increasing climate pressures.

To support this important initiative, we urge all members of the agricultural community, particularly those in the south east, to complete the survey. Their participation is essential to showcasing the wide-ranging benefits that GSEIS could provide, from securing water access to boosting local economies.
