Tasmanian farmer announced as 2023 Nuffield Scholar

Congratulations to TFGA member Iain Field of Leap Farm, who has been announced as a 2023 #NuffieldAg Scholar!

Supported by the JM Roberts Charitable Trust and TIA, Iain will research how to increase ecological literacy and biodiversity on farms for sustainability.

Iain has undertaken research and collaborated with UTAS and CSIRO, as well as industry groups including the TFGA and Landcare Tasmania. This has allowed the family to start adapting their farm, where they produce beef, goat meat and goat cheese. They sell their produce directly to hospitality, retailers and the public through local farmers markets.

Iain and the 18 scholars will travel in Australia and overseas to study innovative ideas, techniques and systems that will benefit their businesses and the broader agricultural industry.
