Future Drought Fund Launches Two New Grant Rounds to Build Farming Resilience

24 September 2024

The Future Drought Fund has announced two significant grant programs aimed at boosting drought resilience and climate adaptation in Australian agriculture. Both programs, part of ongoing efforts to fortify the agricultural sector against the increasing challenges of drought and climate change, offer a combined funding pool of over $80 million.

Long-term Trials of Drought Resilient Farming Practices Program Round 2
Building on the success of its initial phase, the second round of the Long-term Trials of Drought Resilient Farming Practices Program will focus on innovative and transformational farming techniques designed to enhance drought resilience. With a total of $40.3 million available, the program invites project proposals valued between $3 million and $8 million. The funding period spans from 2024-25 to 2029-30.

In response to stakeholder feedback from the first round, the eligibility criteria for agricultural industries have been broadened. This expansion includes cereal, broadacre crops, horticulture crops, and livestock, increasing opportunities for diverse farming sectors to participate in resilience-building trials.
