Like parents the night before Christmas, the Agfest Committee worked into the night putting the finishing
touches to site ready to throw open the gates. The weather lived up to the forecast and 12,165 people
enjoyed a brilliant day!
Patrons needed the whole day to explore everything on offer, checking out the many features and activities
before taking a break to enjoy some fabulous food and music, rounding out the experience with a good
dose of retail therapy.
Alana Edmunds, Dealer Principal, Gaffney Machinery said: “We are so proud to be a part of Agfest 2024. It
is great to see so many customers out and about. For our staff it is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with
and build relationships with new ones”.
Our Patron, Her Excellency, the Honourable Barbara Baker, AC officially opened the event, remarking on
Agfest’ s importance to the community and economy as well as paying tribute to Rural Youth members and
volunteers for their ongoing hard work and dedication.
We were thrilled to be joined by the Premier, Jeremy Rockliff, who confirmed his government’s election
promise to work with Rural Youth Tasmania and Dairy Tas by providing $350,000 towards the construction
of a permanent multi-use structure at Quercus Park, which will not only ensure the future of Dairy Tas at
Agfest it will also provide an all-weather facility for use by other community groups and site hires.
Agfest Chairman, Dylan Bellchambers said: “It is the biggest Thursday I have seen in my six years
volunteering at Agfest. We are looking forward to two more bumper days of the event. I highly recommend
you jump online and purchase your tickets to avoid delays getting in the gate.”
Come and join the fun tomorrow and don’t forget to wear your gumboots! Even better, if you decorate them
tonight come to Central Arena at Noon, join in the gumboot parade, and you may win 4 tickets for a
helicopter flight over the site, kindly donated by Rotor-Lift Aviation.
