2025 PHA Industry Liason Officer Workshop

11 June 2025

As we approach the halfway mark of 2025, Plant Health Australia would like to remind all industry members that we have an Industry Liaison Officer (ILO) workshop scheduled this year in Tasmania.

If you would like to nominate someone from your industry to be trained as an ILO, please encourage them to register via the links below. Keep in mind that these workshops are open to all, regardless of your home state or jurisdiction.

Tasmania: 31 July, location to be confirmed: https://forms.office.com/r/J2Q875yS2Y

Industry involvement in responses is critical to achieving successful outcomes and ILOs are an important aspect of that involvement. Our training prepares potential ILOs for the role and the expectations that come with being involved in an emergency response.

After completing the training ILO’s will:

  • Understand how a response is initiated under the EPPRD
  • Understand the incident management system and its application during a response to an emergency plant pest
  • Understand where the ILO role fits in a biosecurity response
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of an ILO, including confidentiality obligations
  • Develop skills and knowledge required to contribute to response planning
  • Recognise workplace health and safety threats and steps to reduce risks
  • Build relationships and networks with industry stakeholders and jurisdictional staff.

For more information about the ILO workshop please see the attached pdf. This is useful to send to potential ILO’s who may be unfamiliar with the role.

If you have any questions or concerns or need assistance with the registration process, please contact the PHA training team at training@phau.com.au
