TFGA proud to support the Tasmanian Agricultural Education Framework

18 October 2016

Grow, Make, Protect aims to give students an understanding of primary industries and the science behind food and fibre production. Two new agricultural courses will also be piloted in years 11 and 12 in 2017.

TFGA CEO Peter Skillern congratulated the Government on its collaborative approach to tackling the issue of the long term sustainability of agriculture in Tasmania.

“This outcome is a direct result of industry-wide consultation, including via the TFGA-led Agriskills project. Our hope is that future generations will continue to see Tasmanian agriculture as a viable and fulfilling employment option,’’ Mr Skillern said.

“Agriculture is key pillar of the Tasmanian economy. Attracting quality candidates will not only help ensure a bright future for our sector, it is another step towards achieving the Government’s policy objective of a $10 billion agriculture industry by 2050.’’
