Tasmanian Farmers welcome investment in agricultural research precinct

24 October 2023

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers (TFGA) welcomes the announcement of the new Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture education and research precinct.

Ian Sauer President of the TFGA said it was pleasing to see investment into a facility that would bring the farming community and researchers together, in the heart of a region that grows high-quality produce.

Mr Sauer said "It is great to see words turn into action, it’s a long time coming and we're optimistic that the City of Launceston will acknowledge the value this initiative will provide the region and put its support behind the development.

"This facility promises to create a real focal point for the industry and lead the way in agricultural education and research.

"Such an investment paves the way for the industry to reach its goal of becoming a $10 billion sector by 2050," he said.
