Tasmania’s peak farming organisation has commended the State Government for its continued investment in the King Island agricultural community.
Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) CEO Peter Skillern said that King Island, like many other small communities in and around the State, had been hit hard by the recent dry conditions.
“The new initiatives announced will not only bring extra employment to the community, but assist to ensure the ongoing sustainability of agriculture on King Island,’’ he said.
“While this additional funding will address biosecurity and wildlife management issues, the TFGA will continue to work with the community to help resolve the outstanding freight concerns that have plagued the island for some time.
“This is a challenge that will require the community to work together for the benefit of all.”
