After further analysis of yesterday’s State Budget the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) is pleased to note the Government’s commitment to the forestry sector, with the allocation of $4 million over the forward estimates to promote the industry through a number of programs.
CEO Peter Skillern said that the TFGA had advocated strongly for socio-economic issues to be incorporated into the decisions around forestry.
“We are very pleased to note that the Government has listened to our concerns and allocated $1.2 million to deliver these objectives under the Forest Practices Act,’’ Mr Skillern said.
“We applaud the Government for its on-going commitment to a sector that includes many farmers.”
“We also note, on the back of our strong advocacy, the Government’s commitment to improving pasture and stock productivity in the State through appropriate research and development. It is pleasing that our concerns and objectives have been listened to.”
