The State’s peak farming organisation has today welcomed the release of the Schirmer Report on the socio-economic impact of the forestry industry in Tasmania.
Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) CEO Peter Skillern said that the report clearly showed the significant employment opportunities generated by the forestry industry.
“The report also highlights the critical role that forestry plays in the Tasmanian agriculture sector,” Mr Skillern said.
“The underlying message of the report is that farmers can continue to have confidence in private forestry as it represents a critical future resource for this valuable industry in the State.”
