The TFGA welcomes the announcement today by the State Government that Macquarie Wharf will be used for the export of forestry products.
“In recent years the forest industry, particularly in the South of the State, has been constrained by a lack of export facilities. This announcement goes some way to addressing this structural deficiency,’’ TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said.
“These types of announcements once again indicate that the forest sector is ‘getting back on its feet’ in Tasmania. While the industry still faces challenges, this is an encouraging sign that bodes well for the future economic security of our members.”
